SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — The #8 most impactful local story of 2021 as selected by the KELO.com News Team was the Sioux Falls Little League team’s run in the Little League World Series.
On the strength of great pitching from Gavin Weir, the Sioux Falls nine took fourth place in the classic in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Weir pitched two no-hitters in the tournament.
Upon their return, the Sioux Falls “boys of summer” were honored by Mayor Paul TenHaken at the Sanford Pentagon and at a Sioux Falls Canaries game.
