SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — After a highly controversial year for Facebook, the largest social media company in the world has decided to rebrand itself.
But how does the renaming of Facebook to Meta affect residents of Sioux Falls?
The multi-billion dollar company recently purchased the naming rights to Meta Financial Group for $60 million.
Meta Financial is the parent company of Sioux Falls-based MetaBank.
The move likely precedes Facebook’s expansion into the crypto-currency market.
A new name for MetaBank has not yet been announced.
