SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Here are Tuesday’s crime stories reported by the Sioux Falls Police Department during their daily briefing.
POLICE SEARCH FOR SUSPECT WHO SHOOTS ANOTHER DRIVER, STARTING HIS CELL PHONE ON FIRE
Sioux Falls Police are looking for a suspect who shot and struck another driver in central Sioux Falls.
The incident took place early Monday morning at the intersection of 6th and West.
Police say the suspect pulled up next to the victim, had a brief exchange, then shot one round past his own passenger, which struck the victim’s vehicle.
The bullet traveled through the victim’s door and hit a cell phone in his pocket, which then caught fire after the battery was damaged by the bullet.
The victim was able to put out the fire, and only received minor bruising from the gunshot.
Police are looking for a 25-year-old black male in a black SUV.
They ask anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers.
SF WOMAN OUT NEARLY $5,000 AFTER FALLING VICTIM TO ONLINE SCAM
One Sioux Falls woman is out of nearly 5 thousand dollars after she fell victim to a scam surrounding the purchase of a puppy.
Police say the woman was active in a dog-owner forum when she came across an ad selling newborn puppies.
Throughout the exchange, the woman sent several payments to the scammer for insurance, shipping, and the cost of the puppy.
The victim sent approximately 5 thousand dollars through Paypal and Cashapp before she realized she was being scammed.
Sioux Falls Police remind shoppers to always verify the identity and credibility of online retailers.
