SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – During a busy City Council meeting, the Council heard and approved the first reading of an increase to city-issued liquor licenses.
The fee for on-sale liquor licenses would increase from $192,360 to $240,646.
Full-service restaurant liquor licenses would increase from $192,360 to $192,517.
State law requires that fees for liquor licenses are no less than $1 per resident. The increase in the fees for licenses is tied to the population change measured in the 2020 Census. The city of Sioux Falls bases the on-sale liquor license at $1.25 per resident and the full-service restaurant’s liquor licenses have been lowered to the rate of $1 per resident.
Second reading on the proposed fee change will be December 7.
