SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Here are the biggest stories from Tuesday’s Daily Police Briefing.
MAN ARRESTED FOR STARTING FIRE IN HIS APARTMENT CEILING
Sioux Falls Police arrested a man for reckless burning after starting a fire in his apartment ceiling.
The suspect thought there was something in his ceiling, so he created a hole to investigate.
He then lit a towel on fire and stuffed it into the hole he made.
The man did not call police until after he had started the fire.
Upon their arrival, police found nothing in the man’s ceiling.
The fire did not spread to other apartments, and minimal damage was reported.
ARGUMENT LEADS TO DISCHARGE OF FIREARM
Sioux Falls Police are looking for an individual who discharged a weapon during a dispute yesterday (Mon) evening.
Witnesses say that 3 individuals were outside arguing in the 300 block of south Lowell Avenue.
During the argument, one of the men took out a handgun and fired it into the ground.
The three men fled the area after the shot was fired.
Police found one shell casing at the scene, but reported no damage.
MORE GUNS STOLEN FROM UNLOCKED VEHICLES
According to the Sioux Falls Police Department, two guns were stolen from unlocked vehicles overnight.
They believe the incidents were unrelated as they were in separate parts of the city.
Police are reminding residents to lock your car doors, and don’t leave weapons inside your vehicle for any reason.
MORE CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS REPORTED
Sioux Falls Police report that more catalytic converters were stolen overnight.
The thefts aren’t taking place in any particular area in town.
Along with the catalytic converters, police say tools, a package, and a cell phone were taken from different houses.
