SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Monday’s warm and windy fall day is great for those who are outside, but it is also concerning to meteorologists about possible wildfire danger.
The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for the entire KELO Radio listening area advising caution with open flames Monday.
Extreme caution should be used today, as any spark may be sufficient to start a wildfire. Use caution when working in farm fields as agricultural land will be more susceptible to fire development. Do not carelessly throw cigarettes out your vehicle windows, and check all chains on trailers before traveling.
The NWS says the threat decreases Monday evening as the winds subside.
