SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Police had a busy weekend, and they told us all about it in Tuesday’s Police Briefing.
PUPPY SNATCHED FROM MAN WHO OWED MONEY
A man had a puppy taken from him Monday in Sioux Falls after two men approached him and said he owed them money.
After being chased down by the two suspects, the puppy was taken from the victim after he told the suspects he had no cash.
During their investigation, Police discovered a strange twist to the case.
They’re not sure if the puppy even belonged to the victim.
He didn’t know the dog’s name, and was unable to provide any proof that it was his.
The matter continues to be investigated by police.
COUPLE ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGES WITH THEIR BABY IN THE CAR
A man and a woman from Sioux Falls were arrested Friday on drug and child abuse charges.
A witness called police Friday evening, and reported seeing a man using drugs in his car while a one year old sat in the back.
When police arrived, they found that the man, as well as the child’s mother, had marijuana, meth, and paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
The child was not harmed, and authorities say they were taken to a safe place.
MAN ASSAULTED AND LEFT UNCONSCIOUS IN ROAD
Sioux Falls Police are looking for two men who may have assaulted and sent a victim to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
Late Monday night, a man was found unconscious in the road and rushed to the hospital.
As authorities began to investigate, they found surveillance footage of the victim arguing with two other men.
The victim then walked out of the camera’s view, then was found in the street a short time later.
The two men are person’s of interest in the case, as they could have committed the crime, or may know who assaulted the victim.
MAN ARRESTED AFTER OPENING SEVERAL FIRE HYDRANTS
A Sioux Falls man is accused of opening up fire hydrants around town Monday afternoon.
53-year-old Travis Glenn Bortnem is charged with malicious mischeif and a parole violation.
Sioux Falls Police say he opened hydrants at 9th and Western, 9th and West, 7th and Lake, 8th and Lake, and 10th and Elmwood.
None of the hydrants were damaged.
