SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — It was a weekend of crime–and soccer.
Here are highlights from Monday’s Sioux Falls Police briefing.
KNIFE FIGHT LANDS THREE IN HOSPITAL
Three Sioux Falls men end up in the hospital after a fight turned dangerous with a kitchen knife early this morning (Monday).
A 49-year-old man has serious life-threatening injuries.
The other victim, a 23-year-old man, has non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect, a 40-year-old man, who also ended up in the hospital, grabbed a kitchen knife in an apartment, stabbing the victims.
DUPLEXES BURGLARIZED
Sioux Falls Police are investigating a number of duplexes that were burglarized early Saturday morning.
Police say five homes were hit.
They say the suspect or suspects entered most without making a forced entry.
Authorities say five homes were burglarized in the 2300 block area of East 6th Street.
In one of the burglaries, the burglar took car keys from inside a home then stole a car.
Police say they have made no arrests and have no suspects yet.
ATTENTIVE CLERK SPOTS FAKE $20s
An attentive clerk spotted fake $20 bills in Sioux Falls over the weekend.
The suspect tried to pay with them at a gas station.
After the clerk refused the funny money, the forger took off.
SIOUX FALLS POLICE WIN ONE ON THE PITCH!
Sioux Falls Police avenged two years of defeats against a Somali/Eritrean community soccer team Sunday night at Yankton Trail Park.
The game ended in regulation a 2 to 2 tie.
The police team then won the match on penalty kicks.
Mayor Paul Tenhaken clanged the first scoring opportunity off a post.
