LENNOX, S.D. (KELO.com) — The National Weather Service of Sioux Falls says storm damage in Lennox was due to strong straight line winds and a brief EF-1 tornado touchdown. Lincoln County emergency manager, Harold Timmerman, told kelo.com news there was major tree damage in Lennox and the roof on the high school was damaged.
The City of Lennox is asking people to stay off the streets if they are not helping with cleanup efforts. They are also asking kids to stay away from Westerman Park.
The Lennox School District has canceled classes on Monday due to the storm damage.
Xcel Energy trucks are in the area working to restore power. They report over 2000 customers from Chancellor, Lennox, Worthing, and Canton are without electricity from the downed power lines.
