SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls City Council has moved one step closer to approving a supplemental budget that includes plans for several one-time community projects including the skate park at Nelson park, youth and community violence intervention, several housing initiatives, a community health initiative, and several other projects. The council noted this was a complex and collaborative list of projects that will have a maximum impact on the community. Many of the projects selected for the funding boost are private-public partnerships and non-profits that serve the community. They are also part of the Sioux Falls For All plan.
The additional funds are primarily from the Federal Government’s American Rescue Act Plan. According to Council Member Curt Soehl the other additional funds for the one-time spending are a result of prudent financial planning by the government.
Second reading on the appropriation will be August 17.
Details of the plan can be viewed here.
