SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — If you’re a resident of Sioux Falls, you’ve probably questioned why certain trees in the city have been marked with spray paint.
According to the Parks & Recreation department, the marked trees, labeled with either an “X” or a “2”, will be removed by the city at some point in time.
The “X” indicates a dead or diseased tree.
The city does a yearly survey to locate all species of dying trees.
The “2” indicates that a tree has been affected by the Emerald Ash Borer, and will be removed as a part of the city’s response to the invasive species.
