YANKTON, S.D. (WNAX) — The South Dakota Department of Tourism is developing a new strategic plan.
Secretary Jim Hagen says their last three-year plan wrapped up in 2019, but the pandemic delayed their process. He says they want the plan to be widely inclusive.
“It keeps us on our toes,” Hagen said. “We don’t want to rest on any laurels. We always want to be looking to the future and how we can better ourselves as a department, as individuals and as an industry.”
Hagen said the state is sending a survey out to thousands of their tourism partners. He said it appears the number of visitors to South Dakota this year will exceed a record set in 2019.
