SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Today’s rain may have slowed down outdoor activities but people aren’t complaining. The Brookings Summer Arts Festival says while they are seeing plenty of umbrellas, people are happy and shopping. The festival’s entertainment was about the only thing affected due to electrical policies but were ready to start up as the weather clears.
Mike Uilk, who farms near Flandreau, says this was a great rain and it boosted a lot of people’s spirits. With the corn tasseling soon, Uilk says it will give it a good boost. Having missed out on the rains lately, Uilk added that water should go into the cracks in the ground and soak in well getting everything going again.
Kelo.com received reports of 1.25″ in southwest Sioux Falls, 1.65″ near Flandreau, an inch or more in Colman and Dell Rapids, and 1.5″ in Brookings. Just under a half an inch reported north of Pipestone, near Verdi, Minnesota.
