SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls Fire Rescue is investigating an apartment fire Wednesday night.
The incident occurred in the 4500 block of West Chippewa Circle.
The authorities at first thought the family dog was still in the apartment, but it had been removed before firefighters arrived.
One resident was treated for smoke inhalation.
Three people were displaced by the fire and were assisted by the Red Cross.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota: On July 7th, 2021, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 4500 block of West Chippewa Cir. Initial reports were that there was an apartment on fire and a family pet was still inside. The first arriving fire crew found light smoke conditions from the exterior of the building and heavy smoke inside the residence. The family dog had been removed from the residence prior to the arrival of fire rescue and all other occupants were out of the structure. One of the residents was evaluated on-scene for smoke inhalation, however did not require transport to a hospital.
Fire crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze and had the fire under control in approximately 5 minutes. They continued to work for an hour after to ensure the fire was extinguished. Fire damage was sustained to a single room on the first floor and smoke damage throughout the apartment. Three residents were displaced and assistance was offered to them from the American Red Cross.
There were no injuries reported from responders. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 4 fire trucks, 3 support vehicles, and 20 firefighters.
