SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — 190 soldiers with the South Dakota Army National Guard’s 196th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade landed in Sioux Falls today.
The soldiers are returning home after serving on a 10-month deployment to Djibouti, where the unit has been promoting regional security and stability, and protecting coalition interests in the region.
The unit was flown into town from Fort Hood, Texas, on an airplane owned by the New England Patriots.
A welcome home ceremony for the soldiers took place today at 3:30 at Augustana’s Elmen Center.
Several guests, including Governor Kristi Noem, spoke at the ceremony.
