SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Neither the Sioux Falls Police nor crime sleeps.
Here are some of the “highlights” of Monday’s police briefing.
UNLOCKED CARS BAD; UNLOCKED CARS WITH STOLEN GUNS WORSE
Once again, Sioux Falls Police ask that you take your keys and lock your car after another rash of unlocked cars last week and over the weekend.
And if you keep a gun in the car, police say to take it out and keep it at home someplace safe.
Police say two handguns were stolen last week from unlocked vehicles.
The authorities say the guns often get sold and are used in crimes elsewhere.
SHOTS FIRED, JUST REPORTED LATE
Sioux Falls Police are investigating a late report of shots fired in the 1700 block of North Highland Avenue.
Someone fired the shots on June 19th, but the impacted homeowner didn’t report the incident until this weekend.
The homeowner found shell casings, and three rounds had hit his siding.
No one was hurt.
SHOPLIFTER PUNCHES CLERK, GOES TO JAIL
A would-be shoplifter threw a punch at a convenience store clerk after stealing a couple of beers Sunday evening.
All that it accomplished was him losing the beers out of his coat and a trip to jail.
The incident happened at the Casey’s on East 10th.
Justin Shane Kills Small, Sr., 44, from Sioux Falls, is charged with second-degree robbery.
The clerk was not injured.
LYFT DRIVER PROPOSITIONED FOR PROSTITUTION
Local authorities are looking into a situation where a woman Lyft driver was propositioned for prostitution by her male passenger in Sioux Falls.
The driver refused and ended the ride.
The man ran off.
Sioux Falls Police are looking for the man.
MORE FAKE $100S
Someone keeps passing fake $100 bills in Sioux Falls.
The Sioux Falls Police are investigating the use of the funny money at a store and a casino.
The fake bills weren’t discovered until after they were spent.
CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS CONTINUE
Catalytic converter thefts continue to hit Sioux Falls.
Sioux Falls Police didn’t give a specific number but said “quite a few” were taken over the weekend in various parts of town.
