SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Once again, crime doesn’t take a day off in Sioux Falls.
Here are highlights from Wednesday’s daily police briefing.
POLICE LOOKING FOR INTERSTATE BANNER HANGERS
Local authorities are looking for four men who witnesses say hung banners on bridges over I-29 in Sioux Falls at 41st and 49th Streets.
S.D. Department of Transportation workers spotted the banners and took them down yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.
One banner said, “Better Dead Than Red, Patriot Front US” and the other said “No White Guilt.”
TURNING $1S INTO $100S
Sioux Falls Police are looking for whoever passed two fake $100 bills for purchases at the FleetFarm Sunday.
Officer Sam Clemens says the pen many stores use to detect fakes is helpful, but not foolproof.
Clemens says if a one-dollar bill is washed and turned into a higher denomination bill, the pen will still indicate that the bill is valid.
He says clerks should visually inspect the bill for security features and hold it to the light.
STILL LOOKING FOR THAT WHITE JEEP
Sioux Falls Police are still looking for the white Jeep Cherokee or Compass they think is involved in a hit-and-run accident over the weekend.
Witnesses said a white Jeep hit a 60-year-old woman who was on a bicycle, then drove off.
Police say the vehicle likely has damage to its front end.
ARROWHEAD PARKWAY DOUBLE-FATALITY INVESTIGATION ALMOST DONE
Sioux Falls Police say their investigation of the double-fatality accident in May near the east side Walmart on Arrowhead Parkway is mostly done.
Authorities say there are just a couple of loose ends to clear up.
Then, the police will send their findings to the Minnehaha County State’s Attorney.
That office will then decide to bring charges, if any.
