SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) – The Sioux Falls School District is celebrating its 150th anniversary this school year. To mark the celebration, the district is planting a tree on every school property in September.
According to the school district, trees represent new hope, sustained growth, and a strong foundation on which to build. The District 150th Anniversary Planning Committee chose the symbol of a tree and the theme “Rooted in the Past ~ Reaching for the Future” to signify the public school’s role as a major contributor to the success of Sioux Falls and its people. Families, businesses, service groups, individuals, alumni, and friends are invited to sponsor a tree and be present as the school conducts the ceremonial planting.
Sponsorship donations for each tree are now being accepted through the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation. Donor names will appear on a tree plaque to commemorate the gift.
