PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — While medical marijuana may become legal in South Dakota on July 1, the initial uses may not happen until November.
The state Departments of Health and Revenue are still coming up with the necessary rules.
Health Department Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon told an interim legislative committee that there are lots of details.
Malsam-Rysdon says users will have to get cards from the state before they can buy marijuana.
She says the state won’t set limits on how and where medical marijuana can be sold.
The interim Marijuana Study Committee held two days of hearings on the issue.
