PIERRE, S.D. (KELO.com) — South Dakota saw a jump in reported coronavirus cases Wednesday.
The state department of health reports 98 new cases.
There is a delay in reporting as the SDDOH no longer provides updates over the weekend.
Active cases, however, were down by 116 to 712.
This is the lowest number of active cases in over a year.
The department did report one death, an elder from Minnehaha County.
Total deaths are at 1,994.
Recoveries have now cracked the 121,000 mark.
Hospitalizations are down 11 from Monday to 60.
The seven-day new person test positivity rate is just over 4%.
Nearly 57% of the eligible South Dakota population has gotten at least partially vaccinated against COVID-19.
The health department says over 51% of eligible South Dakotans have been fully inoculated against the virus.
