SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – A zoning change drew the opposition of rural city residents during a meeting of the Sioux Falls City Council Tuesday evening.
The proposal rezones a 50-acre area adjacent to East 41st Street and East of Six Mile Road from an agricultural district to a suburban district with live/work and multi-family homes.
Employees with the city say the change is in line with the city’s strategic plan.
Residents told the council the change won’t preserve the rural character and should be limited to single-family homes.
After public comment, the council voted 5-2 to approve the zoning change.
