SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A man turns himself in and is in jail after a late Thursday night shooting.
Sioux Falls Police say they got a report of shots fired near 8th Street and Cleveland Avenue.
Once they got there they found a person with a gunshot wound to the face.
Police say the suspect blocked the victim’s car in the 2600 block of East 8th Street. The suspect got out and started firing. The victim also had a gun but retreated to his car. He was struck in the face during the hail of bullets. Police think the suspect fired 11 rounds. The authorities are investigating if the victim also fired his weapon.
Police think there may have been bad blood between the two men but they are investigating that theory.
The 29-year-old man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the incident, 20-year-old Jon Carlos Rivera went to the Sioux Falls Law Enforcement Center and turned himself in.
Police say there is video surveillance at a nearby apartment that shows what happened.
Rivera is charged with aggravated assault. Law enforcement says he could be charged with additional counts.

Sioux Falls Police say they got a report of a weapons violation near 8th Street and Cleveland Avenue. Once they got there they found the person with the gunshot wound. They were taken to the hospital with a “severe injury.”
Police arrested a 20-year-old man on several charges; he was sent to the Minnehaha County Jail.

On 05.06.21 at around 2050 hrs. officers responded to the area of 2600 E 8th St for a toned out weapons violation. The investigation revealed that one subject had suffered a gunshot wound to the face and that subject was later admitted into a local hospital for severe injury. The suspect, a twenty-year old male, was located and he was later lodged at the Minnehaha County Jail on several charges.
