2020-21 Sioux Falls City Council.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls’ parks and roads will likely get a funding boost next year, with some help from the federal government.
The city council votes Tuesday on a second reading to set $10.65 million aside for a new parks project and road improvements.
The appropriation is part of the Sioux Falls for All initiative, which would include a new playground and ice ribbon near Falls Park. It would also help pay for an addition to the Great Plains Zoo, and other projects. The city says they can count on nearly $9 million of private investment to boost the projects, including $6.7 million toward the zoo exhibit.
The city received over $47 million from the federal government in COVID relief money in 2020; about $10.8 million will still be left over after this project, if it passes.
