SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls may soon require an application process to paint an outdoor mural in the city.
The city council will consider a second reading of an ordinance Tuesday that puts the director of planning and development services in charge of approving applications for the art form.
The ordinance says it’s to distinguish between works of art and painted signs advertising a business, which aren’t allowed.
It also would put some minimum standards in place, like making sure the art is properly maintained.
The council meets Tuesday at 6 p.m. Read the full ordinance here.
