SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO.com) — Two arrests were made yesterday afternoon around 2:30 near 18th Street and 7th Avenue.
According to Officer Sam Clemens, the saga began at the Ramada at West Russell when detectives following up on a case saw a car they were looking for with two people inside.
Patrol officers were called. When they arrived the woman was in the passenger seat of the car and the man was standing outside the car. He immediately took off running when he saw the police officers. He ran through the Ramada and pulled a gun out of his waistband and threw it.
The suspect, a former drug offender, was apprehended outside the Ramada and arrested.
As the officers were arresting him he received some cuts and scrapes on his hands. An ambulance was called and when the ambulance stopped at the hospital, he took off running, still handcuffed.
The officers following the ambulance found the suspect nearby and took him into custody.
Among the charges 36-year-0ld Justin Walker of Sioux Falls received was parole violation, fleeing police, and possession of a firearm by a former drug offender.
Meanwhile, the detectives talked with the woman who had warrants against her. Meth was found in her purse as well.
36-year-old Cassie Harrison was charged with outstanding warrants and drug possession.
