SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — A sleeping man behind the wheel of a vehicle woke up when rousted then took police on a high-speed chase in central Sioux Falls until he crashed into a snowbank.
Police arrested Jacob Dean Schmidt Heinrichs, 25, from Sioux Falls after the Tuesday morning incident.
Authorities awakened Schmidt Heinrichs, who was slumped in his car at 25th and Minnesota at a gas station. He then led officers on a chase, hitting a tree and parked cars until plowing into a snowbank at 25th and Minnesota.
Schmidt Heinrichs is charged with reckless driving and a number of other traffic violations.
No one was injured.
