SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — It looks like we’ll have a white Christmas after all!
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a Blizzard Warning in effect from 6 am until 9 pm.
A major winter storm will affect the region today with widespread 3 to 6 inches of snow. In addition, winds will increase with gusts of 45 to 60 mph possible at times, creating blizzard conditions across the area.
* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph. * WHERE...Portions of east central South Dakota and southwest Minnesota. * WHEN...From 6 AM to 9 PM CST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute. Strong winds could cause tree damage. The cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
