SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) — At least for parts of the KELO Radio listening area, winter makes a nasty return, just in time for Christmas travel.
The National Weather Service says there will be “blizzard-like” conditions Wednesday in Brookings, Moody, and Lake Counties in South Dakota, Rock County in Minnesota, and Lyon, Sioux, Osceola, and O’Brien Counties in Iowa. The NWS says there could be 2-4 inches of snow and 50 mph gusts. Starting Wednesday morning, these counties will be under a Winter Storm Warning.
For much of the area west and south of Sioux Falls, the area will be under a Hazardous Weather Outlook. That started Tuesday and will run through Monday. Starting Wednesday, an arctic front will come through the area, bringing winds up to 45 mph and 1-4 inches of snow.
Other portions of the region will be under a High Wind Advisory or a High Wind Warning.
