SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — A Sioux Falls man faces a long list of charges after a high-speed trip down 57th Street Sunday night that included two crashes. 30-year old Dakota Thorstenson sped by one officer, who saw him collide with another vehicle while watching in her review mirror. Thorstenson fled that scene, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle. Information Officer Aaron Benson says the suspect tried to escape on foot and was confronted by another officer who witnessed the collision. “The driver assaulted the officer by pushing him to the ground. Another officer arrived on scene shortly thereafter. The driver was tazed and placed under arrest. During a search, officers found a handgun in his pants.” A pet was killed in one of the crashes, but thankfully, no people were seriously injured.
In a separate incident Sunday afternoon, a 44-year old woman motorcyclist struck a car that entered Western Avenue from a private drive, causing an accident. The driver of the car has been arrested. The woman’s injuries were not life threatening.
