SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — City and state officials unveiled road construction plans for the Sioux Falls area this morning. Harry Johnston, the area engineer for the South Dakota DOT, says work on the I-229 and Cliff interchange will resume next month. That project began in 2025, and won’t be complete until 2027. It’s one of several large state projects in Sioux Falls. The state is also overseeing major projects at Minnesota and I-229, and 85th Street and I-29.
The city also has major projects in the works, the largest of which is the intersection of Veterans and Arrowhead Parkways. City engineer Brad Ludens says you can expect delays and detours, as Arrowhead Parkway will be closed for up to six weeks this spring as work resumes on the north bound lanes of Veterans Parkway and on the east side of the intersection with Arrowhead Parkway. In addition to all of that, city crews and contractors are also planning to resurface over 800 blocks of the city’s residential streets.
