Pierre, SD (KELO.com) — South Dakota’s new Office of Indigent Legal Services is just getting off the ground, but timing may be a problem. The Office is handling a limited number of cases, mainly for criminal appeals, abuse and neglect. Supporters would like to see the service grow, but Chair Neil Fulton says with this year’s tight budget, it might be better to wait a year to push for expansion. Fulton says avoiding cuts will be considered a victory for the upcoming fiscal year.
