South Dakota Department of Education to be reviewed every year

The South Dakota Department of Education says it welcomes closer review by a legislative committee. The Governor Operations and Audit Committee (GOAC) has voted to review the department’s progress every year instead of the minimum requirement of every three years. Nearly half of all students are reading below grade level and student performance is lagging in other areas as well.
