Sioux Falls, SD (KELO.com) — An investigation at South Dakota’s State Penitentiary is complete, and criminal charges are coming against staff and others involved in illegal activity. Attorney General Marty Jackley says the probe uncovered a conspiracy involving drugs and other crimes both inside and outside the prison. Jackley emphasizes a no-tolerance approach, making it clear that anyone operating on the wrong side of the law will face consequences.
At a news conference this morning, Attorney General Marty Jackley announced indictments against five people; a former corrections officer, two inmates, and two members of the public. All five suspects are charged with meth distribution as well as other charges.
