Attorney General Marty Jackley
SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — It began with an investigation into inmate overdose deaths in the South Dakota Penitentiary. At a news conference this morning, Attorney General Marty Jackley announced indictments against five people – a former corrections officer, two inmates, and two members of the public.
The Attorney General says the timing has nothing to do with next week’s special legislative session on whether to build a new prison. He also says corrections officers were instrumental in the investigation.
All five suspects are charged with meth distribution as well as other charges.
