Sioux Falls will host prison with help from the state

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Sioux Falls is willing to do its part but will need help from the state if it becomes home to a proposed men’s penitentiary.  That was a consistent message at a forum yesterday from local officials ranging from the mayor, the Police Chief, local Sheriffs, and area legislators.  The new prison would nearly double the number of inmates in the city leading to increased crime when they’re released.
