Pierre, S.D (KELO.com) — South Dakota Legislators are meeting today to look for ways to improve emergency medical services especially in remote areas of the state. They’re learning that the remote areas of the state have a serious shortage of ambulance services. Nearly two-thirds of all ambulance services in the state are volunteer or part time. Marty Link of the state Department of Health says improved communications in recent years have helped prepare Emergency Room teams when serious cases are headed their way.
