SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — Government task force has a goal of cutting South Dakota Property Taxes by 50-percent. In order to do that, the legislature’s Property Tax Task force says local governments funded by the property tax will have to become more efficient. Tea city manager Justin Weiland was among those pushing back. He told the task force, “There seems to be the perception across South Dakota that cities are engaging in reckless or excessive spending. In my nearly two decades of service, I’ve seen the opposite to be true.” The Task Force is charged with making recommendations to the full legislature on cutting property taxes. It meets again next month.
