PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Indictments tied to recent inmate deaths and disturbances at the South Dakota Penitentiary are expected Tuesday. Attorney General Marty Jackley is expected to announce the indictments, focusing on two inmate deaths. So far this year 12 inmates have died in state custody. Four of those deaths are being investigated by the Division of Criminal Investigation. Earlier this month the department of Corrections announced it had busted drug smuggling operations at the prison. Three of the deaths at the prison have been caused by overdoses.
