Sioux Falls, SD (KELO.com) — The debate over dueling prison sites is heating up, and the next hearing is still weeks away. Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken has come out against the idea of expanding prison facilities on land near the existing penitentiary, saying it’s too small. Prison Task Force member Greg Jamison agrees and says the Task Force is stuck choosing between land that isn’t perfect, or communities that don’t want a prison. Among those communities is Worthing, which is one of the few remaining sites being considered for a new men’s prison. A public forum in Worthing last night generated strong opposition, with plans to present concerns at the next task force meeting July 8th.
