Sioux Falls City Council
SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — It’s a case of dueling election dates in Sioux Falls City Hall. City Councilors approved first reading of three election-related proposals last night. Two of them deal with the timing of next year’s city election. A new state law requires the election to be held in conjunction with the primary election in June, or the general election in November. Public input already has Councilor David Barranco questioning the November date he originally favored.
Both proposals will be considered again July 8th, along with a third proposal which would reduce the winning percentage in city council elections from the current 50-percent down to 35-percent.
