WASHINGTON, DC (KELO.com) — Republican Gubernatorial candidate Jon Hansen and his running mate, Representative Karla Lems led a group to Washington yesterday, working on carbon capture pipeline provisions included in the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”
One concern was to ensure provisions removed by the House to transfer control of approval and location of CO2 lines from the states to the federal government were not placed back in the bill.
Another major concern is the 45-Q tax credit, which is also included in the reconciliation bill. Hansen says it needs to go.
The group met with Senators Thune, Rounds, and other members of Congress. Hansen says the tax credit funds carbon sequestration and is the driver behind the pipeline push. He says it will be more difficult to get that credit removed.
