SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Corrections Department says staff has foiled an attempt to smuggle contraband into the state penitentiary in Sioux Falls. Corrections Secretary Kelly Wasko is praising staff members, who noticed unusual behavior during a routine supply delivery last week. Because of the ongoing investigation, specific details can’t be released. Wasko says staff prevented contraband from being delivered to inmates, which could have led to serious security and safety issues for other staff members and other offenders.
