Multiple inmate assaults in Penitentiary – gang involvement suspected

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is examining reports of multiple assaults involving inmates at the state Penitentiary in Sioux Falls this week.  Attorney General Marty Jackley says there’s evidence of gang involvement, and says the cases will be prosecuted fully.  The assaults were reported Tuesday afternoon.  No prison staff members were injured, but about ten inmates were, including five who were stabbed.
