WASHINGTON, DC (KELO.com) — The federal budget axe may cut funding for a life-saving antidote for opioids like fentanyl. The Trump Administration is proposing cuts for the overdose medication naloxone, also known as Narcan. South Dakota non-profit Emily’s Hope recently announced it would be distributing about 20-thousand Narcan kits across the state. That program won’t be affected, but the move could impact efforts of first responders who carry the kits in emergency vehicles.
