SPRINGFIELD, SD (KELO.com) — Project Prison Reset round two. Members of the Reset committee will meet in Springfield Tuesday trying to find solutions to meeting South Dakota’s prison needs. Location has been a thorny issue for over a year, as Lincoln County landowners strongly opposed using a site between Harrisburg and Canton. Committee chair, Lieutenant Governor Tony Venhuizen, says the group will have ten sites to choose from – half of them in the Sioux Falls area.
The Task Force is being asked to develop recommendations to be considered during a special session of the South Dakota Legislature scheduled for July 22nd.
