PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — Chalk up another victory for opponents of Summit Carbon Solution’s proposed Carbon Capture pipeline in South Dakota. Brian Jorde, the attorney for those opponents, told the Public Utilities commission some of his clients have declared they will never sign an easement for Summit to bury the pipeline on their land. He argued there’s no path for Summit to enter the state from Iowa…or exit the state to North Dakota as planned.
Summit’s attorney, Brett Koenecke, said the possibility of getting through the state shouldn’t be a basis for commissioners’ decision.
The Public Utilities Commission voted 2-1 to reject Summit’s request to delay their pending application to allow more time for the company to overcome landowner opposition to building the line.
