PIERRE, SD (KELO.com) — We may get an idea of what the future holds for a proposed carbon capture pipeline through South Dakota on Thursday. Summit Carbon Solutions’ application for a construction permit is on the docket for the Public Utilities Commission. Last month, the company asked the PUC to indefinitely suspend its application, after the legislature approved a new law stripping the project of eminent domain powers. Pipeline opponents also filed a motion to deny that application, and Spink county filed a motion to require the company to cover the county’s legal expenses to fight against the pipeline.
