SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) โ The South Dakota Legislature gets poor grades from the Sioux Falls School Board on the just-completed legislative session. The District tracked 73 bills through the legislative process. Six of the seven bills it supported passed, while 39 of the measures it opposed failed. Still, Board Vice President Dawn Marie Johnson expressed disappointment and frustration.
One member after the other, the board offered sharp criticism of the just-completed legislative session. Mark Murren expressed feelings of confrontation and antagonism.
The biggest disappointment was in the area of funding. The legislature approved a 1.25% increase in state aid to education. That is less than half of what was expected.
