SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) — We could see a ballot referendum dealing with ballot measures on constitutional amendments. A group called the Voter Defense Association is expected to launch a campaign petition today to refer a bill passed by the South Dakota Legislature. The bill would change requirements for placing proposed Constitutional Amendments on the ballot. Former State Senator Reynold Nesiba of SIoux Falls says HB 1169 complicates an already difficult process.
Nesiba says the bill also makes the Secretary of State’s required validation of petitions much more difficult. He hopes Governor Rhoden vetoes the bill.
