STURGIS, SD (KELO.com) — Congressman Dusty Johnson honored another group of Vietnam era veterans in Sturgis this week – and encountered some protesters in the process. The protesters were voicing opposition to actions by the Trump Administration’s Department of Government Efficiency – or DOGE as it’s known – to cut employees within the Veterans Administration. Congressman Johnson says he just wants to send a new message to soldiers who also dealt with protests during their service years. The protesters held signs to protest cuts to the VA. Congressman Johnson says he’s closely monitoring the cuts made by DOGE and is pushing back when “missteps” are made.
